"Life" x Break to Build

Just went thru my photobucket from beginning to end, dang...that's like 3-4 years worth of [stuff]. Not just photography but random stuff that I thought was hilarious. It just shows me how time flies. There is a lot of photography in there as well, just about a piece of EVERY photoshoot I've ever done. I've worked with so many different personalities its crazy...I don't think no one looks at it like that. I don't count the amount of people I've worked with but the amount of personalities, and know that one individual is not limited to just one personality. With every character I come across, I look at God's work as art...well, because it is art. Its like we're characters in one big movie, that has its commercials, short films, tv series, sequels and more...I just know that I'm destined to stand out in my role. No matter if you're a superstar or a seat-filler, you still have a role to play in this movie called "Life" (not to be confused with the comedy with Eddie Murphy & Martin Lawrence haha).

But on the no bull, working with these many different personalities has allowed me to alter myself as well as my artwork in many different positive ways to present to the public. I never wanna be someone thats boring. So the ones that don't know me say I'm the quiet guy, and try to figure me out...and the ones that do know me say I got a smart mouth, and still in a sense can't completely figure me out. People like to copy, so why not give them something with substance & content to copy off of? So I live my life creatively. Do something just enough to get the attention of life's audience, and then put my own twist to it. "Flyer than the rest of em...ha"

The lastest character I've worked with was Ms. Carson in the previous Hollagraphy Shoot. Much like myself, she keeps a straight face in photos but in person does the total opposite. Be sure to check that shoot out. It started raining during the shoot, but she's a soldier, so no rain was gonna stop her party lol. Great chemistry working together during the session, so expect to see more work from the both of us. [Add me to facebook to view the entire shoot]

On to other things...
Version 6: Break to Build is currently in the works. Hopefully, I'll be winding to the final stages of it soon, its a lot of hard work. I've been working on it day & night so NO that does not mean its gonna take another year to drop lol. In the beginning stages of the site I was in a constant battle with self on if the design of the site should be extravagant or simple. Like Version 5: A Perfect Fifth, I went with the simple look; I want the work to speak for itself. The site will have new work (also some old work..design, clothing, photography, and illustration), videos, and I'm also bringing back the featured section of the site. The feature section will consist mainly of featured artists, some of which I already have listed from V3, and many new ones. This will allow me to showcase others of my choice that are from the DMV and other areas as well.

Zero Gravity x New Soul x Twenty4Seven

Welcome back to blogging, myself that is. I've been trying to get back in the mindframe I was once in months ago. I'm getting there...slowly. It feels good though, getting a lot of work done lately, feels weird when I'm not doing some kinda work. Everything I touch I've been trying to put my all into it. I guess when I'm progressing and doing something productive it doesn't allow life's everyday obstacles bother me, so I need that right about now lol. Just finished the "Go" cd cover yesterday, also had a photoshoot with Big V & Pages in Hopkinsville, Kentucky yesterday afternoon. The shoot went well, they always show me a lot of love out there. So expect to see those photos soon.

Music is my motivation, so the inspirational song I chose for today is:

Wale - New Soul

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6x-xlHdbqr0

Lately, in my playlist rotation has been the new mixtape by Los (from B-More) called "Zero Gravity". That joint is AMAZING. So definitely make sure yall check that out. Its available for free download online. When I say Amazing that means not only every track, but every bar in every song.

Twenty4Seven Magazine. Yea we still moving forward, rising at a rapid pace. The new issue is available! We are currently on our 4th issue, and almost done designing the 5th. The quality itself is blowing people away, so of course we've got the competition a lil shook lol. Spotted the other day that one of them was stealing our style in a lot of design aspects *cough cough* Midwest Leak. If it was one issue...it would've been a coincidence, but of course is a lot more than that. The first reaction is always to get upset, but after that, I'm not even worried because the creativity of my team will always crush the mimics. We going in full throttle! Taking the mag to the top and each one of our endeavors as well. So bottom line...roll with us or get rolled over. Twenty4Seven.

Twenty4Seven Magazine

Lately, I've been teaming up with the staff of Twenty4Seven Magazine...so I guess you can say I'm officially a part of the team. I was involved in the first issue slightly. I shot the front cover (Tyrone's cover), and the spread picture of Tyrone's article in Naptown. There is also a Holla Fashions ad that can be found in there too. But with the second issue, I was involved with a lot of the design for several spreads, as well as a few design decisions for the covers. You will also be able to find a HF ad in this issue as well. So big shout out to Twenty4Seven Magazine! We're gonna take it straight to the top!

If you don't know, Twenty4Seven Magazine is based out of indianapolis, but will be available internationally! As far as local places in Clarksville, TN...They will be available in different locations around the city (i.e. Journeys (mall), Barbershops, What Women Want and more).

One of the hottest upcoming magazines based in the Midwest. Brings a competitive edge while trying to educate the youth and gives the smaller independents a chance to make major noise without having a major budget.

Koopa x HF x DMV x Ink Camp

First and foremost, Chamillionaire (My 2nd fav rapper), once again has put out another hit. This track is off the chain...its called "Patron" featuring Bobby V. If Koopa is smart, he'll release this as a single, hot for the radio and a club-banger, and I don't even drink! (for this w/questions...nope never have) He's been dropping a lot of freestyles, especially since his album "Venom" drops early February Check it out:

Other than that, over the month I've been working hard as usual, trying to make a name for myself. I've got the opportunity to do the photography at more parties, including ones featuring artists Webbie & Yung LA. Got the chance to meet both of them and speak a lil bit with them, both 2 cool, laid back dudes.

Thanksgiving.
Welcome back to the DMV for me. Spent time with the fam, picked up a lot of new clothes, but the vacation wouldn't be a vacation without putting in a lil "werque". Met up with 2 DMV rappers...Lyriciss & Mag Dollars, we met up at the Morgan Boulevard Metro Station to do a Hollagraphy Photoshoot. It was cold outside but we got it in, just a lil something for a future step for unity/working together for the DMV. So shouts to & Lyriciss & Mag for that joint.

The homie Tyrone with Brightwood Entertainment has began the release of their magazine (Twenty4Seven Magazine), and is sending out copies to major cities around the country. Not to mention that the HF ad for Holla Fashions, Hollagraphy, and Holla Creative is in the first issue. So thats a real good look.

Tyrone & PrincessKenya got the chance to record the HF Song for future promotion & commercial usage. The track came out hot! Real creative work, I put it in their hands and let them do it however they wanted since they know me better than most. This is one track that I'm not leaking, we're gonna do this the right way. 2010 is gonna be a great year and all I know is that something gotta pop off next year...I've been patience and I've put it well more than enough work, time to turn it up a lot. But before 2010 is here, 2009 is still not over...So this week I will be releasing the newer women's HF tees in the store What Women Want: Clothing & Accessories (Clarksville, TN ONLY). Each tee is one of a kind, so that means supplies are limited.

Got in a promo photoshoot with Ms.Smith for the HF tee release promotion. It was a quick shoot, wasn't as long as usual, but it did the job...came out real nice. Also got in a Hollagraphy Shoot with Ink Camp Tattoo Studio a couple of days after...Shout out to my tat2 artist J.Rose & Ink Camp.

I was planning on releasing the tees tomorrow (monday) but I might end up pushing it back a few days because I want to get in a shoot with 2 other models I have interest in. So we'll see how that goes, classic work of course ;). Oh yea, even tho myspace is kinda wack now...check out the new layout!

And if you have twitter & Facebook...make sure you add me.

I guess I'm blogging finally because I finally got all my work out the way...not used to the free time on my hands, its kinda boring. Christmas is coming up and I'm expecting it to be real boring. Not expecting gifts but I'm old enough not to worry about that. Other than that I'm getting V6 together...in my head of course, stay tuned...more creativity for the world to experience later.

Break to Build.

Lyriciss x Mag Dollars x Holla = Do it For DMV

When I was home in the DMV for the holidays I got the chance to do a shoot with 2 DMV music artists...Lyriciss Flowz and Magnum Dollars. Originally, the shoot was planned to be for more than just the 2 DMV but to include as many of the DMV artists, producers and people putting on for the area in general...just something for DMV unity. Something just to have fun and bring us all together, especially since I don't get the chance to go home much. I hit up different people on facebook and posted several Tweets on twitter about it 2 months in advance. The only ones who came thru was these 2 but no love lost...we made it happen. Also shout out to Southeast Slim because he did let me know that he wouldn't be able to make it. But there is always next time. The shoot came out real good. We didn't have much time especially due to the holidays. It was cold as hell outside lol but we still had fun while doing it.

Make sure you check out both artists!

Wale x Holla Creative = Artistic Integrity

Couldn't sleep, creativity running through my veins, and as always...music in my ears for inspiration. Was listening to the Wale's "The Artistic Integrity" on the Mixtape About Nothing and decided to put together something raw while taking a break from work for clients. Another night of not sleeping, lol but thats normal for me. "5am is the new 5pm!"

Download:

[Wale]
Never will I ever utter never to myself
Fall in love with defeat, throw my endeavors on the shelf
I never back up like Cleo Lemon on myself
Lemonade connoisseur life's lemons coming out
When life gets sour know I still devour
I remember Peabody mice crawling up the shower
Now it's motorbikes, warm nights out in Maui
And white bitches and light skinned women be smilin'
DC star, a PG legend
Mogul phenomenon holmes I'm all of it
Yeah, they all love it though critique Jon Lovitz
And whack hoes hatin' on key out in public
See, welcome to fame where most of us is gon' change
If you never do, still niggas look at you strange
Niggas mostly assume, niggas make up they news
Once you made it you cool, they label you brand new
Really in subconscious
They see a star no longer the underdog
So nobody wanna walk with ya
They all talk like you think you was a god n'shit
But you the same that you always is
Yeah, they all convinced but all for shit
This all be different if you had an office key, yeah
And I'm the same, on e'erything I love, or everything I love
Please pardon my integrity

--------------
Also the HF Website has been down for about a week, but I just want to let yall know that its back up and running. I also took the time out to update it a little while planning out version 6.

Footage from Core DJ Retreat [Earlier in '09]

So I was bored...decided not to throw away/waste any previous video footage, so I edited the washed up footage from the Core DJ retreat from earlier this yr. The reason I say "washed up" because this vid was recorded with a cheaper camcorder though we had to HD camcorders with us. Currently, I do not have access to that footage cuz my 2 homies with the footage (monte & tyrone) are in Naptown and the files are too big to transfer. So instead of deleting the footage I have, I decided to have fun and turn nothing into something even tho I couldn't really capture much of anything because I was mainly doing photography. So check out the Youtube video...comment on it, share it, whatever....just watch the damn thing lol.

Oh yea and for those who will ask me...and i know someone will ask cuz they always do...the music on the vid (in order) is B.O.E. - Boss, Chamillionaire - I'm on it (from MM7), and B.O.E. - Stop Light ft. Young Maine.

DMV: WE UP NEXT!

A while back I made a lil mix for the first time in Garageband of the different artists in the DMV (my home of course..). Well now I feel is the right time to post it. I've been supporting the artists at home since day one, and now we are really seeing Major process from each of them. But in order for something to last it needs to be supported by the people/fans. Some of the artists I don't know, some I'm cool with, and some are my actual friends...I'm gonna support them no matter what because I want to see my city rise cuz honestly...there are more people in the area that hate rather than show the support of someone trying to do something positive. I wasn't able to fit everyone on here that I wanted to....KayeM, Ra the MC, EMP, and others to name a few...but dont think that I forgot about yall. I'll get yall on the next go round. Oh yea and shout out to Kayem and Delonte West for that funny ass KFC vid...that joint had me ROLLIN all night. But yea, when you check out the video just make sure you let people know about the artists in the area if they don't, pass the link around, tell them about my site and all that good stuff...you know what it is lol. DMV! WE UP NEXT!

Oh yea, and holla at me if you want the actual MP3 of the vid.

Core DJ Retreat x ATL

This trip was amazing. 100% grind. We was only in ATL from fri - sun, but got a WHOLE lot accomplished. We took about 400 copies of tyrone's singles with us (Me & You ft. Young Maine) and we came back with only 2 copies. The core DJ retreat was packed. I met a lot of very important people out there (i.e. Representatives for UGK Records, Ace Hood, Director of Marketing for Interscope, Akon, Wendy Day, etc.) Inside of tyrone's singles cases was my HF flyer, my business card, B.O.E.'s flyers, and Brightwood Ent flyers. Out there I was also able to squeeze in a photoshoot with 5 of the Envy Models on the rooftop of the Hilton Hotel in downtown ATL. We also chilled in Ruffchild Studio where B.O.E. recorded two hot tracks. Pictures from the weekend are coming soon, and maybe even some video footage ;)

Make sure you listen to the NEW hit single by Tyrone featuring Young Maine - "Me & You".

Guaranteed banger! Guess you can say Holla Approved lol! Check it out, I'm not just promoting it, I'm devoting 100% of my time into this. This is not only my homie but I believe in his talent. Now let's get on this grind. ATL in the morning!

This is the definition of grind...did a night photoshoot at 3am...first time ever that late lol. And uploaded the song to the site, blogged, and printed out all the flyers and business cards needed.

Late Night Blogging x Brightwood Ent

Its 4:30am, I'm listening to Marky's "Nothing is 43ver" Mixtape (DC Rapper, check it out, hot mixtape). Me & Tyrone(Brightwood Ent) been puttin in work all night getting ready for this Core DJ Event out in ATL this weekend. We're gonna be pushing his single & his mixtape hard! (Rydah Muzik mixtape drops june 1st). Website, photoshoots, flyers, myspace, you name it, this fool already past out. I'm about to drive home but felt like blogging...memorable moment I guess. Shows how much we grind...and when we work together on things the grind is two times easier. Its all coming together though. I worked all day long (at my "normal" job) & he had a 4hr drive back from Indianapolis, and I have to be awake at 10am to go back into work smh.

Vent....
As time passes you see who's real, and who's not quite so true. It sucks especially when that person thats not so true is in ur inner circle. I learned in church that if you clear the clutter out of your life that things flow a lot easier. This is true...as far as everything, I was just coasting...smooth sailing...til some more BS popped up. Lol my friends thats around me daily already know what I will say..."ITS NOTHING TO MEHHHH!" lol, keep moving, keep grindin, stay true...to myself and to the ones close to me.

Meanwhile, Young Holla *cough cough* (Joe Long) has been asked to speak in front of a class of children at a youth center about photography. Man, thats a wonderful thing...see no one understands that I would do that over any concert and event cuz my goal is to influence/inspire others to do something positive. And to everyone that supports me...I promise my talent wont go to waste. So May 22nd, I will be speaking to the kids, don't know what to say...kinda nervous...but I'll be ready when the time comes.

Grind x Werque! = Progress + Growth

For those who didn't know...the Holla Fashions website is up and active. It has been updated in the photography section, so just make sure you check it weekly..or daily if u prefer. I will be notifying you about updates here on my blog.

Though I have been grindin hard lately, I have also been taking time out for self to get myself organize, that way it makes my grind much easier. It feels good to take time out, because a lot of people that I deal with throughout the course of the day are very inconsiderate and forget that I'm not a machine. People act like I don't have a personal life of my own...normally when my phone rings, its always someone asking for something but never someone calling just to talk. Thats why I just wanna say to my true friends that I really appreciate them all. Also for everyone who supported me on the southern entertainment awards...I appreciate you. Though I did not come out with a win, I came out with recognition, a nomination, and I have met a lot of new people from it in this past year. You can't take that away from me. In the past year I have grown a lot...in my personal life and within my craft as well. This year I will be going for the SEA's again, and whatever comes out of it is what I will receive. I'm grateful for whatever comes my way.

Earlier today I did a photoshoot with a local hip-hop group known as the Street Poets. Real cool dudes, I know them on a personal level as well as a business level. The shoot came out great...honestly, it doesn't need to be edited but I'm gonna do a couple of edits before I post anyway. Look out for that shoot later after I get back from ATL. I have a couple of other shoots to post before that...some b4 I went to Indianapolis and 3 more in Indianapolis. Maybe I'll find the time to book myself for another self-portrait shoot....HA! That wont be happening for a while.

Look out for the youtube channel...yea, I'm going to have fun with that. A lot of people don't know that I have a hidden talent of video editing lol. Thats like when I let people know I played the sax for 6 years :-O (alto, tenor, and baritone lol). The shoots in Indianapolis were recorded in HD. And I will find time to get some footage of other things along the way to keep yall attention.

Meanwhile, I have decided to leave to ATL a lil earlier than expected for this event with Fusion the Band (shout out to Fusion btw! I ride with them 100%). On March 26th (yes, thats a thursday for those of u who are bad with dates)... Fusion the Band opens for N.E.R.D. Such an exciting event...and yes I get to do the photography, I might bring my camcorder as well. I'm going to be in Atlanta from monday until friday, but I might end up leaving EARLY saturday because Wale performs with UCB & B.O.B. at 8pm friday night...you know I gotta see the homie do his thing since I missed the show in Nashville, TN. I gotta work at my "normal" job that saturday morning at 10am so I know I'm pushing it. Then that evening I gotta do the photography for Lil Wil (my dougie) & Cashmoney's All-Star Concert at 7pm in the Clement Auditorium at Austin Peay State Univ (yea u like that plug lol)....talk about Grind? I gotta photoshoot right before that with a sorority. Yes...I work hard, So after a 4 and a half hr drive, 5 hr work shift, 1 hr photoshoot, 2hr concert, oh and did I mention the photography for the after-party too? naw...I wont pass out. I'll just wake up and be ready to do it all over again...I guess I am a machine after all....
I'm working like I was never nominated....Aye marty lol, thats the answer to ur question! ("how does it feel not to lose 1, but 2 SEA Awards?") HA!
